Difference between NXT 2.0 vs M21

First off I tried searching for this, but search results never seem to work too well when using numbers...

I was wondering what people think of NXT 2.0 compared to 21. Both are synthetic. However you can buy more 21 for a cheaper price and in bulk.

    Thanks!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

    Re: NXT 2.0 vs 21

It's basically the same product, the formula for M21 has been tweaked so that it can be applied using a rotary buffer which means it's been tweaked so that it can be subjected to higher temperatures and still perform well as a rotary buffer generates heat fairly quickly.

Meguiar's doesn't really promote applying waxes using a rotary buffer as it will tend to leave swirls in the surface but some in the detailing industry apply waxes this way so you have to take this into consideration when creating a formula for a target market.

Most detailing operations are production oriented, that is how fast can they buff a car out and then push it out the door so the next car can be brought in. So it's about speed first, not quality. That's why some products in our line are formulated so that they can be applied using a rotary buffer, it's not that it's the best way to apply a product, it's just the reality of how the industry works.

    Hope this helps...

And the same stands for the comparison between NXT 2.0 and #21 2.0

Thanks Mike! I was at the Open Garage Last Night and I think I asked you that same question, but I didn't quite remember exactly what you said. I really enjoyed it. I had never used NXT 2.0 before and I saw how it left the black cars with such a deep color. We never tried 21 out last night. You said they are essentially the same except 21 can be applied at higher speeds for a rotary. Will 21 applied by the DA still leave that nice deep color that NXT 2.0 left?

          Thanks!

Heck yes they are. I've used maybe 1-2 ounces TOTAL of #21 2.0 and it has detailed 8 cars so far! This stuff can, and NEEDS to be put on in very thin coats...but man it protects. I've done some follow-up washes for clients and it beads and LOOKS like day 1.

Does the #21 2.0 fill like the NXT 2.0?

My understanding as it was explained to me by Mike Phillips at the 101 detailing class he hosted is that the basic difference between NXT 2.0 and #21 2.0 is that #21 is formulated to work better in situations of higher heat (ie application my high speed machines).

Otherwise, they are intended to do the same thing.

                  Hope this helps.

so does that mean the 21 2.0 doesnt leave the film that a lot of people say they get from the NXT 2.0? From what Ive read it seems as if the film comes out from heat.

Actually, if by the word 'film' you're referring to the dark and light patches, streaks or what people describe as a greasy look then we've had posts describing this with M21 also.

Ive always been curious about those two products. If NXT and #21 are similar then why does everyone say that #21 lasts so much longer than NXT?

We've been reading this on multiple forums since these products were introduced... maybe this old saying applies?

That is what I have always thought, but in the Meguiars product comparison table, NXT2 is listed as a Polish/Wax while M21 is listed as a Pure Wax.
                            - Is there any significant difference in NXT2 vs #21 regarding polish/glaze content?
                            - Is there any significant difference in their (very mild) cleaner content?

                              NXT 2.0 is U$40
                              M21 2.0 is U$25

I guess I' ll start to get M21 instead of NXT since they are practically the same.
