Any body have any suggestions for me?
When using M105 by hand to remove defects you would start out with firm pressure, working an area about 1 foot square or smaller and about 50 seconds to a minute into the process you would lighten your pressure up and re-rub out the section with less pressure.

If you're seeing any hazing after using M105 then chase it with ScratchX.

It's vitally important that your foam applicators are clean. Just to note, it's possible that M105 could not finish out totally clear but to date it's never happened when I've used in on any paint system, so good technique is a must.

      Hope that helps...

As Mike said, you want about a one foot square area. So when you put product on the pad, you want to be able to have a thin layer of product on that area. By hand, you could smear it around, or by machine you would do a couple dabs across the area, and then pick them up with the machine as you go.

Okay, I'm sorry for bringing up an old thread but I am new here. I have the same problem here as you can see from the below picture. What is the best solution for me? These bird drop etchings have been on the car ever since I purchased it, which was in June 2009. Now, it is August. Do they sell M105 in auto parts stores? If not, do you think ScratchX/ScratchX 2.0 will do the job? Please fill me in here guys.

P.S: I am kind of on a tight budget and I know the M105 can run for about $30+. Would ScratchX/ScratchX 2.0 be the best pick then? =/

              First off, welcome to MOL!

Wow, those are some nasty looking stains/etchings from bird droppings, that's for sure. You will probably be best served by using Ultimate Compound on those areas - derived from M105 it is available at most auto parts stores and even Wal-Mart. Use it the same way as M105 has been outlined in this thread and you should be good to go.

Re: How To Remove a Bird Dropping Etching by Hand using M105 Ultra Cut Compound

Update: I tried using ScratchX 2.0 to remove the bird poop etchings but to no avail. It's still on there. I don't think there is another way to remove them because if I look closely.. the paint looks cracked already and I don't think M105 would help the situation any further. Using ScratchX 2.0 actually made the bird poop etchings more noticeable.

Just a quick question about M105: Will using M105 hurt or damage the clearcoat finish on the hood if I was to use it to remove the bird poop etchings? Or would I just have to buffer it out with wax and I'll be good to go?
