  • 2004 Black Suburban

AudionutMike and I and our 2 teenage apprentice sons were given this 2004 Suburban to perform an "Ultimate Detail."

After a wash and claying, we found we had our work cut out for us:

Check out our clay bars after claying 1/4 of the hood each:

After some rather extensive testing, we found that our process would be:

    Paint:
    M105/So1o heavy cut wool pad/Rotary @ 1700
    M83/LC White pad/Flex @ 6
    M80/LC Blue pad/Flex @4
    Nxt/LC black pad/Flex @ 3

    Interior:
Meguiar's Leather conditioner on leather seats
    APC+ @ 10:1
Meguiar's Natural Shine Rubber and Vynil protectant
    Stoner's invisiglass on windows
    Meguiar's QuickOut carpet stain remover
Little Green Machine extractor, water in tank

    Engine:
    APC+ 10:1
No touch tire care (works good on plastic and rubber engine parts)

    Wheels:
No Touch tire care in the wheel wells
    Meguiar's Endurance tire gel
Blue Magic chrome polish (trying to use it up to get some Nxt all metal polish)

    Floor Mats:
Pretreated with orange blast @ 4:1
Heavier stains pretreated with Meguiar's QuickOut stain remover
    Pressure washed
Extracted with LGM (water in the tank)

All exterior trim treated with Meguiar's trim detailer

    Here's our test areas:

We really love using D151, but in this case we couldn't get it to finish up without hologramming, so we went with old faithful 83/80 combo.

    Here's some befores and afters:

    Hood before:

    Hood Afters:

    Tailgate before:

    Tailgate after:

    Cockpit before:

    Cockpit after:

    Backseat before:

    Backseat after:

    Cargo area before:

    Cargo area after:

    Wheels before:

    Wheels after:

    And some final shots:

    Total time spent: 38 man-hrs.

    Thanks for looking

WOW Nice work. That paint was in terrible condition when you got it, now it looks amazing. The interior looks better than new.
    Great work.

      Great work.
Thanks This is the first Suburban we've worked on and we really enjoyed it. The panels were mostly flat and buffer friendly. The sheer size of it made it alot of work. It was a LOT of sheetmetal to buff 4 times

On the capet. A water extractor is that like a water vacuum like a carpet shampooer? Just curious. And also for the carpet what is orange blasts?

          Freakin' Awesome!!!

Very nice! Sorry I missed it.

Got my Flex, Vector, Karcher & other goodies (including Hyperdressing)... I'll send ya an email later.
The only reason some people get lost in thought... is because it is unfamiliar territory for them.

Great work, gentlemen! The reflection you brought out of the paint was incredible.

Yes, it has a nozzle behind the vacuum tip that shoots down water on the carpet, so as you are pulling the vacuum tip along the carpet it is sucking up the water (with dirt attached). Here is what we use, the Bissell Little Green Machine:

Orange Blast is a cheap but effective cleaner sold at Walmart. We mix it 4:1` with water to treat carpet mats, works great!

The water extractor you have in the pic. Is that sold at walmart? I would like to get one of those.

Yes, it's sold at Walmart for about $75-$80. Best money I've ever spent

They sell a model with a heated tank that heats up the water...that's the one I have and it works really really well. The non-heat model works great too.

Great Work! Except that now you have two problems:

The color of the hood is now blue and the color of the tailgate is now silver!

                            Jus' kidding! Hahaha....great, great work!
