There is more to waste water than just soap. There are many harmful contaminants in waste water. Contaminants in wash waste water include the following:

* Oil and grease, which contain hazardous materials such as benzene, lead, zinc, chromium, arsenic, pesticides, herbicides, nitrates, and other metals
* Detergents, including biodegradable detergents, that can be poisonous to fish
* Chemicals, such as hydrofluoric acid and ammonium bifluoride products (ABF), and solvent-based solutions that are harmful to living organisms

Keep in mind waste water contains all the stuff you rinsed of the car as well as all the stuff you sprayed onto the car, rim cleaner, degreaser, etc....

You need to decide if your going to play by the rules or not.

First off, I FULLY plan to play by the rules. I just merely had a question regarding my lack of understanding of water reclaimation. So I sought the input of others who knew better on the subject than I. So Im sorry if I gave you the wrong impression!

Secondly, you are quite right though. I had indeed forgotten about the stuff I rinse off of the car. Thank you for clearing that up.

That shouldn't matter so much as reclaiming your waste water. It is illegal to allow water run off from vehicle washing to run down the street and into the storm drains. Google the "federal clean water act" and see for yourself.

California is getting very tough on enforcement.

How would you go about collecting the waste water? (Serious question, I'm thinking about going into the detailing business and am kinda lost about this)

great idea. but in Russia this business unprofitable = (mentality of the Russian man-polished just prior to the sale, such as 1 every five years) yes yes yes! and wash their cars generally once a month) the owners of expensive cars all still trying to care for the car. such as I have very little. and people know very little about Meguiar`s, mainly 3M. if something new appears on the market that is primarily distrust.

I trying to organize mobile deteyling in Moscow. for the month ...... 2 orders! and looked at me as a beggar, because think that I have not own garage and I go to clients.

For a business license in ca, I need a water containment mat which I am going to get. But for all of my products, do I need to explain to them about every product im using to make sure its biodegradable or is it fine since I have the water containment mat? Also what else do I need to do in order to obtain a business license. I've been trying to find an article that tells me everything because my city hall in la habra just told me to fill out the papers they gave me, they didn't explain everything I need to do. If someone could help, i would appreciate it. Thanks!

Fill out the paperwork and pay them. I doubt they will check for water containment equipment. They want their money and little else.

I realize it's an old thread, but wondering if anyone who has started a successful mobile business can share what they do during the winter months. We're in a cold weather state so the winter has meant a huge slowdown in business. Do you rent garages? Set up arrangements with warehouse owners? Looking for some alternative solutions...

I recently started my own mobile detailing company and am trying to learn all that I can about different ways to do things and be successful.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, what type of pop-up canopy are you using in the photo with the yellow Porch? I have been looking for a large, shade/rain popup but am not finding anything that looks like it will be good.
