Seriously though... that is one HOT ride! How do you like it?
It's an amazing car. A lot of people have asked me if i was worth the extra 20k and it is. The engine is awesome, 8-speed tranny is silky smooth but when you turn Sport mode on and use the paddle shifters it shifts EXTREMELY fast. Take the car over 3500rpm and a secondary intake opens and ***** in more air and creates a mean exhaust note. I really can't find anything wrong with the car. Inside and out. I HATED the M3 interior and the iDrive system.

When i FIRST saw it i thought the quad exhaust tips were ugly but it's grown on me and Mike (Stoops it was?) during the class pointed out why the exhaust tips aren't attached directly to the mufflers and it made COMPLETE sense.

Yeah all the magazines, Top Gear, Fifth Gear, they all like the M3 more, but the IS-F is very aggressive looking and I know there will be very few on the road. I can't wait to put on some NXT 2.0 on this baby =)

This is basically speculation on my part but it seems logical: the exhaust tips are routed through the lower rear fascia in a neat and tidy setup. There is no room for movement, and the exhaust does have some movement to it, so the dual outlets of the mufflers are aimed right at the back side of the tips but there is room for movement when driven hard.

An exhaust moves around more than you might think, especially on a road car. I've broken an exhaust hanger while hammering a road car on track during a NASA ProRacing HPDE event. It literally tore the weld apart where the hanger was attached to the pipe itself, leaving a nice hole in the pipe. This was on a pretty pricey stainless steel exhaust system too.

Auto manufacturers don't like building things in such a way that they break easily, are easy to damage in cleaning (factory polished aluminum wheels have clear coats on them, for instance), etc. It just seemed to make sense that Infiniti did the IS-F tips the way they did.

YOU MEAN LEXUS! Gross! you called my IS-F an Infiniti.

Next time you're behind a BMW M3, look at how the exhaust bounces. Or, if you're behind a Lexus IS250 / 350.

what they did with the IS-F is exactly what Mike said...tidy setup that wont break. JDM ingenuity
