That photo is great. Thanks a bunch. Photo was shot outisde of the NHRA MUSUEM during a racing legends luncheon in late 06. I originally had it parked out of the display areabecause some other cars were supposed to be displayed. About an hour before the event PARNELLI JONES walks up & goes "STEVE, Why is your COBRA parked in the north forty?" So it was moved up to the spot of the photo. Turned out only 1 other car showed for display. I asked JIM RATHMANN [INDY WINNER 1960] to sign my dash after the event. JIM looked at me & "You know if it was a garage/trailer queen I wouldn't sign it, but you drive the hell of it so I would be proud to sign. Right afterward PARNELLI signed. ANDY GRANATELLI was suppose to sign but couldn't attned the event because he hurt his back.

Also, today I detailed my first cobra. Silver and black with a supercharged small block ford.

I am going to try to make it, it just so happens that I have training that up coming week, so they moved me to weekends off for the next couple weeks starting that week! Would you happen to want us to bring any detailing equipment?

Love to have you for any amount of time you can be here. It will a laid back watch DVD's, chat, take KERMIT out for some rides, do some detailing kinda day. It will be a fun day. I'm pretty sure my two Daschunds, MORK & MINDY, will be pretty pyschotic by the end of the day.

I think I actually have everything I need; actually have 2 MEGUIAR'S battery operated polishers, 4 Batteries, pads, clay, QD, DEEP CRYSTAL PAINT CLEANER, DEEP CRYSTAL POLISH, & NXT WAX, MF Rags up the yazoo.
If you have any special GENIE IN A BOTTLE stuff that I don't know about you might bring it.
Now remember this is suppose to be a fun day for you guys. You can stare at me while I work on the KERMIT or join in if you want.

I'm actually out doing a polish job on the aluminum in KERMIT's engine compartment right now. Am watching a film called THE GREEN HELMET while I'm working. This movie was produced in 1960 & the plot based around getting ready for and drivng at LE MANS, SEBRING, & MILLE MIGLIA in 1959. You my not enjoy the plot but the cars that show up in the film are legendary.

Also...real deal or not...would love to hear some more history on the car and what you have done with it and were you have raced it!

Nicknamed KERMIT. No one calls it THE COBRA, its KERMIT with everyone.

KERMIT is a replica produced by Factory Five Racing that a friend of mine, ROGER STINE, & I built in 90 days over 8 years ago, almost 9 now. Color is 1997 CADAILLAC DARK POLO GREEN. Is powered by a FORD HI-PRO 289 running a HOLLEY 670 STREET AVENGER Carb, EDLEBROCK PERFORMER MANIFOLD, & a FORD RACING M-CAM. Dynoed at a little over 400HP at the flywheel. Cars weighs about 1900lbs. 0-60 time has been clocked at WILLOW SPRINGS at 3.68 seconds.

Have raced it from almost day one. KERMIT's been around the circuit: Gateway Raceway, St. Louis - Lime Rock Raceway, Ct - Denver International Raceway, CO - Phoenix Interantional, AZ - Las Vegas Speedway, NV - Portland International, OR - Sears Point, CA - Laguna Seca, CA - California Speedway, CA - Willow Springs, CA - Buttonwillow, CA - Thunderhill, CA. I mentioned before that KERMIT was driven to each race by yours truly, not trailered. Only been on a trailer once in its live &that was just recently to my engine builder when we put the new engine in.

Funny story about not being trailered is that I was invited to do a major car show up in NORTERN CA a few years back & as I drove in I was stared at like I had three heads. OK? When I got done parking the judges, etc came over & asked me if I actaully drive the car all the time. Yes, I do, it never been on a trailer. They walked off. Came judging time. I was informed by the one of the judges that they were knocking 25 points OFF MY TOTAL because I ACTUALLY DRIVE THE CAR. I sorta said your kidding with other nouns/adjectives added. Seems out of the 50 cars invited, 48 were trailer queens that are hardly ever driven. Needless to say the other guy [beautful 68 NOVA] were shunned the weeeknd like we were the black sheep, or something. I didn't get mad, I thought it was funny. Had more fun driving KERMIT up & back on some great roads with even better views, with the exhaust note & wind.

Only extended time off hasn't been the car but me - exploded my left knee in 2002 [not race/movie work related] & needed surgecy so I missed the last few weeks of that season & 2006 when I popped my right shoulder rotator cuff in a racing incident [not accident] & needed a couple of surgeries on it that I missed almost all that season.

KERMIT & I will hopefully be offered film roles in a major motion picture that starts filming pretty quick. They asked about KERMIT 1st, then asked about my availability 2nd. Geesh, I know where I rate.

Great story Steve...good luck with the movie. I have a 1967 Chevelle that is also a driver...all original...67,000 miles and I am the second owner...when I moved the car to Idaho...I drove it and what a joy it was!
