  • Clear plastic trim - By hand or machine?

    Hi,

As you can see in the pic, there are black clear plastic trims on A and C pillars. They have swirl marks and light scratches.

I've got orbital and rotary buffers. Should I apply PlastRX using machine or hand? The plastic is very hard. I've tried couple of passes using foam applicator pad by hand. Gave a shine but no effect on swirls.

Should I go with rotary (soft buffing pad + PlastRX)?

A traditional orbital buffer won't have enough power to do more than what your hand can do.

You could try doing a test spot with your rotary buffer with a polishing pad and PlastX and see if it's working and if it's not then stop.

Some plastics are very hard and thus very hard to work on no matter how you do the work. It's too bad car manufactures don't make cars out of materials and coatings that the average person can work on.
