The Secret Slot - How to open a can of M16

The lid for Meguiar's M1611 Professional Paste wax, as well as all the lids for all Meguiar's' paste waxes in our paste wax tin cans, has a slot built into it to help you remove the lid.

Most old timers know of the Quarter Trick but just as many people use Flathead Screwdriver. Often times you'll find you have a Quarter in your pocket but you don't always have a Flathead Screwdriver in your pocket.

Below are some pictures that show the slot in the lid and how to use a Quarter to open a can of M16 by sticking the Quarter into the slot and then twisting the Quarter like you twist a set of car keys when you start a car.

Again, this works with all Meguiar's paste wax cans that look like this can of M1611

Now I get the quarter picture in the other thread.

Sorry Mike but it was over my head until now.

Aww man, at least I always put the screw driver in the secret slot.

In and turn. Some people might put it in they pry. I'm more of a turn guy.

I've found those paint can openers work great for opening up tins. If not, a quarter or screwdriver will also work.

I have been using the quarter in the slot for years. Man, I am old.

I always thought that the reason they made quarters was to open tins like that.

I like those old style paste wax cans that Meguiars used, I wish they would come out with them again. If I remember correctly they used the same type of can for #26 until the late 90s (I used a lot of #26 back then)

Now if I could learn how to open a spray paint can top without breaking it, I'll be a knowledgeable guy.

Didn't they just bring back Solvent Based Dressing that is not VOC Compliant (in some states at least)
