Okay, I've got a few questions about this plate.

    How thick is the plate?

Also, how flexible is it? Very flexible like the W66 or stiffer?

I can't imagine using anything but the SOLO backing plate on my Makita....but I'll probably have to give it a try.

Yeah, the Solo (W66) plate is a dream to use.

I wish I would have found it sooner!

Yup, another huge fan of the Solo backing plate. The 3M UK plate is great too but its steep!!!
If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

Same idea as the SOLO plate right?

No. The W66 Solo backing plate has a thick foam interface between the back and front portions which gives it a lot of cushion and give. This new backing plate is rubbery and this makes it more flexible than a standard rigid blacking plate.

Like some things pertaining to detailing it's not whether one is better than another but either part of a system or personal preference. Lots of trial and error testing goes on behind the scenes for months and sometimes years before a product is given the green light to move forward to market.

So I'm guessing this new backing plate will still work on my So1o pads right if I decide to give it a try?

I have a question - I bought this Backing Plate to my Makita 9227B and doesnt fit - thread in W68 is too wide and I dont know to do.

                      I bought this too:

                      and this is good.

Why the W68 doesn't fit to Makita ? Am I doing something wrong ?

Can You advise me something in this problem ?

Is there other adapter fot this ?

Not sure why it wouldn't be fitting... what isn't fitting? The threading? Or a clearance issue elsewhere?

I have that small backing plate you listed from ADS and it works fine for me on my Makita.

Hi there lukaszr. If I am not mistaken the buff and shine backing plate is for 14mm thread and your makita has the 14mm thread thats why it fits. W68 is using 16mm. You should get a thread adapter to use W68.

As I get back home I paste a short film you can see exactly what I mean.
This is so that the threads in the W68 is simply too large and can not shoot, because it is light - strange, because in the small backing plate from ADS whicg I listed is everything ok, and the threads in this and W68 seem to be the same.

This small backing plate is ok and fits perfectly that's why I am surprised that the W68 just does not fit.

                            Best regards
                            Lukas

There was a thread on the "old" forum about the threading. Maybe Paul can chime in on this one...

The Makita 9227C for the US uses the 5/8"-11 threading (the US backing plates use the same 5/8 threads). I believe the European models either use M14 or M16.

This thread might help a bit:
