Is this a must have for the washable soft buff pads? Or will the w67da work just as well with the new pads?

Both will work, the design of our two new backing plates are optimized for our new Soft Buff 2.0 pads.

I am getting the Power Kit off of the Meguiar's site this week. Does that include a backing Plate?

Is a Plate required to use a DA?

Yes. Based on the description on their web site, it looks like the Power Kit includes the W67DA backing plate.

Is the new W68DA backing plate a slightly larger diameter than the W67DA backing plate? I'm hoping that maybe the new W68DA will better fill out the recessed space in the new SoftBuff 2.0 pads?

I called the distrubutor I finally located and as of this afternoon he has not received any of the w68da plates. Said he was going to check on it next week.
