  • Cleaning Around Emblems - (w/o emblem removal)

    Hey guys,

Appreciate some advice on how to clean residue (its like dried glue or something -see pict) around an emblem.

I tried using a brush, Qtips, mf cloths paired with APC, car shampoo, D151, googone, industrial wax/grease remover (used separately not mixing all up) and nothing would take it out.

I dont want to remove the emblem (if possible)

Here a sample picture of the issue.

    TIA

        He did.

Tim, I'm racking my brain...but don't know what to say.

Do you have any idea what it is? I almost wonder if it needs to be physically scraped off with some type of hard plastic tool?

If you've tried all that and weren't able to get it out, I think the next step would be to remove it to clean it or just leave it like that.

Have you tried a toothpick to see how hard it is?

You can always put the emblem back anyways.

Thanks guys for the suggestion. I think I'm gonna leave it like that. Will explain to the owner. Hope she wont mind its still there.

BTW, its a SUV (RM350K or USD100k) Lexus Cygnus - White. So if something goes wrong while/after I remove the decal, I cant pay her back for the damage and I'll be her slave for a year

                  I'm still open to suggestion.

To add, I have the Meguiar's double ended brush and when I get wax/polish stuck in the emblem, I just QD and scrub it out, haven't run into any trouble yet, the brush has pretty stiff bristles.

Give it a try, never know.....

Thanks Aaron. But I've tried that with ADS brush and some Last Touch. Didnt even budge the darn thing

If its my ride, I'll debadge it quicker that you can say Meguiars.

Bummer, need a tiny PC/Rotary to get in those

I've seen those little foam ended sticks, maybe a paint cleaner (DC1) maybe......

Doubt anyone would notice but you and the other 20,000+ members here on MOL!

Since it seems like you need something stiffer then a brush, q-tip, etc. Maybe if you spray some qd and carefully use a plastic razor blade. Just the edge. It should not induce any scratches, but it should be stiff enough to get the dirt out. Just typing out loud.

If it were my vehicle, I would be more concerned about the scratches in the "H" rather than a little residue. If the owner does not notice that, she probably will not notice the reside. Maybe you are concerned needlessly.
