  • Ultimate Compound with DA - What Pad?

What pad is suggested for use with Meguiars Ultimate Compound on the DA?

I'd be using a G100 if that makes any difference.

    Thanks in advance.

I would use the W8006 or W8207 polishing pad. You could also use W9006 or W9207 finishing pad. You will get more cut with the W8006 or W8207 pad.

Thanks guys, I was hoping that is what you were going to suggest. Now if my WalMart will just stock the shelves, I'd be set to start working this weekend. Was swiped in the parking lot and want to test out the new UC with the DA.

I'm not familar with any of the above pad #### suggestions.

I have a variety of LAKES COUNTRY 6.5" pads and a PC 7424XP DA Polisher.

Wanting to remove fine scratch lines from 2006 MAZDA 6i.

Need to learn how to prep pad and apply material to ??? colored pad using ULTIMATE COMPOUND

              Thanks, Chuck Sharin Renton,WA

Re: Ultimate Compound with DA - What Pad?

We would normally recommend using UC on our yellow W8xxx series pads with the DA set to speed 5, moderate pressure, and slow arm movements making overlapping strokes over an area no larger than 2' x 2'.

Lake Country's white polishing pad is pretty close to our yellow pad in aggressiveness, with their orange (tangerine) pad being a bit more aggressive. Their cyan pad is another step up yet on many paints it still leaves a nice finish. We would suggest starting with either the white or orange pad on your car, doing a test spot first, of course.

You may find this thread a useful resource for comparison purposes in the future.

Re: Ultimate Compound with DA - What Pad?

Michael, Thanks for your quick reply.............

Detailed Image web site (where Ive been buying most of my products) shows the Lake Country Green Pad as being for very light cutting and then the Orange being for light cutting.

I will start out with the Green and see how that works out with the ultimate compound. Will then try Orange if I cant get enough correction with the Green.

I will set my PC 7424XP on speed 4/5.

                  Thanks for your advice

Chuck, skip speed four and go straight to five for correction.
