  • A closer look at the Gilmour Foam Gun....

Gilmour Foamaster Adjustable Multi-Ratio Cleaning Gun #75QGFMR

Prior to the purchase of this I wasn't too sure about the foam gun, so I thought I would give those looking into on a little closer look out of the box.

I bought the gun off Amazon for around $35 and as usual free shipping. The hope is that this will save some time in washing my vehicle, at times it can get a little much washing my Avalanche as much as I do and I hope this will help make things quicker.

    What you get:

    Ratio Markings/Settings:

    Filter Screen:

    Quick Connects:
I can see this being very handy for rinsing prior to the 'foam down'. I will be adding a quick connect to the hose end to easy change over the the flooding rinse method.

    Ratio Setting Adjustment:
In addition to the slidding adjustment there are a couple thumb screws on the main brass body in this photo... I would assume these will fine tune the flow by changing the amount of air entering the foam. You can also rotate the sliding tube to turn the foam on and off.

    The Setup:
    Yes, so I can't spell.

This seems like a very solid unit, well designed and built with lots of solid brass and heavy duty plastic. I have yet to use it, just waiting for some better weather and you bet the second the weather turns around I will be out testing this thing!

    That's cool Brandon.

Let us know what you think, been looking at those too and wondering if the D Line soap or MG line soap would work (going bulk as much as possible).

    Good show

This looks like another product we are stealing from the Eurpoeans in a way I think.
I say this because there was a thread about the foam gun and Europeans.
We took microfiber from them too.
This looks like another product to add the list to buy.
      Great pictures and write up!!

Those who do have one, what setting are you using for car wash soap?

I don't own one, but the normal car washes call for 1oz per gallon, the D line can be diluted up to 400:1 so with the numbers you have with that, you can dilute the D line then put it into your gun and use a setting.....

Not being as great with math at the moment couldn't give you a number.

I put it on the highest setting... so basically the slide position with the biggest hole.

i love my foam gun! it will definitely find a place in your detailing arsenal and it's worth every penny that it costs IMO. be sure to tighten both the brass screws that are located on the top of the foam gun and on the side of the brass bar, you do not want to lose those!

I got one from ADS two days ago. I ended up giving it it's test run yesterday and was really impressed. The Super Soap foams really good with this unit.

You may also want to consider buying some quick connects for you nozzles.
I got these at Sears this evening for $7.99.

If I'm not mistaken Griot's, and Autogeek also sells them. I think their gonna make my life a bit easier... hopefully. I'll let you all know.

Not all quick connects match up, so be carefull. I believe the Gilmour brass ones and the Sears Craftsman brass ones do at least.

Dont forget hose end shutoffs as well....
