  • Windows 7 Anybody?

Just wondering who is using Window's 7 Beta out there?

I just installed it on a test computer/garage laptop and it seems pretty smooth and fast so far.

It's a lot like Vista in many ways but a whole lot faster than it.

Kinda wierd that my year old desktop with Quad-core processors and 4gb of Ram takes longer to boot up than this 10year old laptop with 512mb of RAM and a single core processor.

Give it a try on a test computer if you want.

I had not heard about this latest Windows edition until now.

XP Pro has been running fantastic on my desktop, so I just have not felt the need to switch.

Thats why I put it on a test computer

I'm not saying I'm preparing for it to crash at any moment, but if it crashes this laptop, I wont loose anything and I'll just put XP or Vista back on it.

If you already have Vista and don't want to worry about it crashing then I wouldn't even spend the time to do it.

I still have Windows XP. My old computer has Windows ME. I remember when I started the jail we had Windows 3.1! The good ol' days.

I still use XP, just can't bring myself to switch. My first computer was a 286, cost $3500.00. Never paid so much for a computer for so little. I worked on the first portable computers for the news industry they used the old modcomp 6800, now that's old, 8 bit system (ram was 6400). 9600 baud rate for modems was screeming.

When we bought this computer, had no choice but to have Vista. At first, we missed xp. But over time we are starting to like vista. No problems so far.

If you are wanting to try Windows 7 and only have one computer, I would suggest creating a partition on your hard drive and installing it onto the other partition, that way you can always delete that partition and it wont affect whatever current OS you have.

I am running Windows 7 as a VM on my Vista Laptop. So far I like it a lot. I think maybe Microsoft is going to get it right this time.

I was thinking about doing that after a friends dad showed me this but since I had a extra computer I figured I might as install it.

Still liking it so far, and surprised how many programs and drivers work with it.
