  • Removing Scuff Marks

Can anyone suggest the best way to remove scuff marks from an internal door panel.

The scuffs have been caused by someone getting out of the vehicle and catching their shoe against the panel which is plastic with a raised pimple effect pattern. I tried Quick Detailer but this had no effect at all.

    Many thanks

My goto is #39. Best vinyl cleaner I've used by a large margin.

My mother inlaw is good for leaving scuff marks and i've found that Automotive Goo Gone works quite well.

#39 or APC/APC+ are what I usually reach for.

Is the plastic actually scratched? Or is there just plastic/rubber transfer?

Something else to try, give a magic eraser a shot, In combination with APC, it's hard to beat...

I used good old 50/50 water+alcohol for my scuff marks. I just reapplied protection after just in case

I use a used 3m green pad and QID.
More elbow greese than chemical reaction.

And the green 3M scrub pad didn't scratch or mar the plastic door panel?

M39 Vinyl Cleaner works great, it's usually available through a PBE store, not sure if you can get it or at least where you can get it in the United Kingdom, maybe from an online distributor?

And it is this concern that is addressed in this thread,

                    where it says,

"Some materials and/or surface coatings don't lend themselves well to being abraded with the end-result looking good or looking like the original appearance"

So be careful when working on some materials.

Another option for getting shoe scuffs off of door panels is toothpaste. Everyone has toothpaste, so no special trips to the store are required. (At least I hope they do!)

What do you use to get the toothpaste off your door?

                          I use an old one
                          One that's soft

                          It still shines
Haven't looked to hard to see marring, I'm shure there is, but I don't notice it.

Uhm. A damp towel works fine.
