Gold Teak Oil Useage

Is the teak oil only good for teak, or any other kind of wood?

Any idea how food safe it would be? I have some wooden cutting boards on my grill that I do not cut on, but do rest spatulas on.

Teak oil can be used on lots of different porous woods. If food is involved, I would use mineral oil on the block instead. Teak oil is made out of Linseed or Tung oils(food safe). It's the solvents they add, that would make me shy away from using around food prep areas.


Teak wood is a real pain to keep looking good(previous tourney ski boat owner)!

Hmm... the Gold part just sounded more colorfull that mineral oil.

Hopefully one of the Mikes can add something about about the solvents then.

Well, to bring back an old thread, here is a related question.

Would the Teak Oil be ok for use on a bench? Not sure how porous the wood is, may have to do some testing. But not going to come off all over clothes or anything from sitting on it?
