March 2009 Costa Rica was host to the
VIII Central American Classic Car Convention.
The convention gathers the best classic car collections from
Costa Rica and several other Centralamerican countries.
The ACAH (Centralamerican Historic Car Club Asociation)
is the governing body that organizes the event. Each year a meeting is held in one of the member countries and host car clubs for different countries. The ACAH is dedicated to the preservation of automobiles with historic or collectible interest.
The convention lasts a total of three days in which classic car owners get to proudly display their cherised toys. Early on Friday the cars start to arrive, getting ready for the big event on Saturday and Sunday. Each car is displayed in their own special category, vintage, muscle, european, etc.
The most exiting day of the convention was the track day held at La Guácina Racetrack, where the most daring drivers set out to compete with their pride and joy against each other.
But that was not all, the convention had a VERY special guest, Barry Meguiar of Meguiar’s Inc. was the Guest of Honor!
Barry and his Car Crazy Television crew were there to document the entire event!
Here's Barry talking with Carlos Rodríguez, owner of La Guácima Racetrack
Barry joins in the fun driving Mr. Barriento’s Porsche Spyder!
Barry shares a few words on how he got involved with the car hobby!
As always the men in black were making sure the cars looked their best!
Barry loves talking with the Next Generation of car guys, so he met up with renowned Costarrican car collector Diego Rodríguez
Diego’s car collection showcases the finest examples of pre and post war cars, as well as special interest historics and muscle cars that belonged to his father and grandfather.
Here are some pictures of the event!
