do you have to be an experienced detailer?

    Mike,

Noob Question: Do you want experienced detailers to help on these projects, or is ok if a noob like me comes down to help?

I wish i saw this thread a little earlier, i would have loved to come down to irvine to try my hand at doing an "extreme makeover". Alas, work has me scheduled for tommorrow....

      Hi Craig,

These extreme makeovers are "Open Invitation", that means we welcome people of all skill levels and experience.

I try to give more advanced warning beforehand, for this I apologize.

Some parts of the car were extremely oxidized and as we found out later as we began to work on the car that parts of the car appear to have been re-painted as they were single-stage paint.

Here's a shot of the hood after we clayed one half of the hood with Quik Clay System, and then applied one, well worked-in application of ColorX .

the after pic of the engine is very impressive, what dressing product did you use?

I believe they used hyper-dressing on the engine bay. I am not sure what dilution though.

Simply amazing! Can't wait to see the whole write-up.. So Mike, being a single stage paint, did you pull some paint off the car to the softbuff polishing pad you used? Great work team!

Did we pull paint? We surely did. Only one of the panels was single stage the rest of the car had a clear coat. When Mike hit that panel after working the trunk the pad went from yellow to bright red! That was a surprise.
