update- I went to my local shop for paint and I got quoted 6k for a paint job, so I am going to pass on that and just go to maaco.

I would try painting it myself, but that's just me, especially if you dont want it perfect

I would but I do not have a paint booth. yeah my plans are just to make it a nice driver but I may do another resto when I am older if I still have the car.
