    Re: Metal Polish Comparison

Just a little update, since I didnt feel a whole new thread was needed.

Finally got around to my once or twice a year muffler polishing, but used the #0000 steel wool this time. OH MY GOD this was so much easier. So much easier, so much faster, and same good looks. No need for tar remover to be used. Just some soap to clean them, then metal polish and wool.

I used a terry cloth to do a final polish on the visible parts, but probably wasnt even needed.

Definately my new technique from now on.

I applied the metal polish (Hot Rims M&A) with the steel wool.

Then a follow up with the metal polish applied by terry cloth.

Sorry if this is a silly question but what exactly is #0000 wool?

Its as fine/soft of steel wool as you can get. Available at hardware store, etc.

I picked mine up from HomeDepot in the paint section. It's pretty cheap and you get a fairly big bag.

Ah good to know. I'll have to snag some.

For some reason I was thinking 0000 was a product code like Meguiar's W9000 pads...
