  • #80/Nxt/#16 on aLexus RX 300

The car was in pretty good shape except for the sap that was very stubborn and took me a very long time to get them off with the clay bar. And the paint was very dry.

    -NXT wash
    -Autopia Clay
-#80 with a white LC pad on 6
-NXT Tech Wax on a new blue polishing pad from Patrick (Excel Detail) 0n 4.5
-#16 by hand (applied to the whole car and then removed it)
    -AA on tires/black trim/wheel wells
    -lexol on leather
    -NL on vinyl
    -Nxt on wheels

Sorry about not being able to portray the wet look that this trio created. Here are the pictures

Nice job! Even on a white car I can see the added gloss.

Just so you know, it is considered proper Netiquette to keep your posted pictures under 700 pixels wide. Otherwise some users may have to horizontal scroll to see the full image.

Here is the a how-to to help you fix this:

How to put pictures into your posts

    Again, nice job!

        Hi tdekany,

        Looks good!

Lynn's dad has one of these in the sandstone/beige color, it's been a very dependable rig for them and I've always liked the body style.

Here's one of your pictures resized using Easy Thumbnails to 600 pixels wide.

I put this in your gallery here

I just resized one that showed the entire car for an example for anyone reading this... that's all. This pictures also shows the entire car to reinforce my comment on liking this body style. Before we bought our Pilot, we also looked at these. Here, I resized an after picture to balance things out,

Sometimes it's hard to see a dramatic difference between before and after pictures of white cars. I think I touch on this in the below article...

            A Lesson From White Paint

What I find about myself when I read messages with pictures that force me to horizontal scroll, is that I don't spend much time reading the thread because it's annoying to horizontal scroll to see the entire pictures. And... if you have to horizontal scroll to see the entire picture, then you actually don't see the entire picture all at once, which takes the viewing pleasure out of looking at the picture.

Please don't think I'm coming down on you or anyone that posts large pictures, I'm just trying to point out some of the reasons why posting pictures over 600 and 700 pixels wide is typically considered bad netiquette, it forces the viewer to horizontal scroll and I'll guess that most people find this annoying. It also means longer download times for people on dial-up.

I know how people think, and that is most people want to use the Attach file option and quickly, easily share a picture in their message. I'm like that too and have used that option a lot on other forums because I never took the time to learn how to use Photo Gallery, (or some other solution for uploading picture to the Internet), and then learning how to use the IMG button for inserting images.

That's why I wrote this tutorial

How to put pictures into your posts

It explains why I have chosen to disable the Attach File option.

Anyone that posts on Autopia will notice David Bynon has also disabled the Attach File option for the exact same reasons.

            But I digress....

I didn't mean to originally post a Before picture to show or highlight your work, but to emphasize smaller pictures and the Lexus body style, in hindsight, I should have read more thoroughly and chosen my picture more carefully

            Sorry...

Mike - I greatly respect you. your helpful nature, your professionalism etc... so I know that you mean well. I posted this detail on Autopia and was hesitant to do so here due to the size of my pictures, but since I used all Meg's products I thought... what the hell, the worst thing that will happen is that Mike will resize them. - also, I do have the website bookmarked but too lazy to ""learn" how to do it. So I will reset my camera back to take 640 x 480 size pictures from now on..
To me larger pictures look better since I am not very good at capturing on a disk what I see in real life . I do have a pretty good camera.

Sorry about making you do some of the work that I should have been doing.

You are a great guy Mike!

PS: I do like these Lexuses as well. I drove one for awhile a few years ago. (ex girlfriend's)

I love the new ones even better.

Thank you for the kind words, I did mean well.

I like the new ones too, but now Lynn wants a Hummer!

(I'm not detailing a Hummer, so if we ever get one it will have to be white!)

mike, I appreciate the site and the help you provide for everyone.

Why not get a silver one? More classy and with your ""prevention" expertise, it would be swirl free.

Nice gloss for a white vehicle.

                    Mike,
I would get a silver Hummer, if you plan on neglecting it.
