  • '68 Dodge Charger

I got the chance to do a mini detail on this car during the weekend. For those at the Midwest Get Together, the owner of this Charger also owns the green RoadRunner.

The owner wanted the wheels polished up before the Mopar picnic on Sunday.. The wheels had this haze to them and didn't have a very deep shine. Also, the lettering was starting to yellow pretty bad.

A few weeks ago, Kevin gave me a few Gold Class polishing pads. The drill mounted wool pad, X4000, worked fantastic when combined with M105. I used an X4005 wool pad with the rotary and some more M105 to polish the lips. Each of the wheels were then hand polished with a mixture of M205 and Hot Rims Metal Polish. To remove the polish in between steps, I would spray down the wheels with Meguiar's Citri-Gel (love this stuff) and wash the wheels. Finally, I dressed the tires using All Season Dressing.

This detail was just for the wheels and tires, but I gave the body a quick wipe down with M135.

Can you guess what is under the hood?

Nice job on the wheels Chris!

                I'll take a guess, 440 with trips/a six pack.

                          Thanks, guys!

Yes, it does have a 440 with the six pack.

Citri-Gel was discontinued a while back. It is a citrus based cleaner and can be used on pretty much anything. I really like it for cleaning tires and loosening bugs on the front. It is very thick even dilluted, so it stays where you spray it. You might still be able to find it, but I know of an alternate source.

That's really cool Chris! I'm jealous... Having those Mopar guys show up was a good thing, I love the car!

Dude, you need to post some pics of the gloss on that Porshe in your garage, that's the glossiest white paint I've ever seen...
