  • Exhaust Poll

After looking at cat backs for a month or so, I'm still no closer to finding what I want. Heres what I've narrowed it down to so far what do you think?
I want a deep V8 sound, and perhaps a little better gas mileage.

On my 03 Ford Cobra I have a Borla system, all stainless, 4 inch tips, and it's the quiet version. Not the Stinger.

Hi MJ,probably a lot of members here havn't tried these systems. It's more of a specific question that requires information that you need for your particular application.

If you post it as a thread, you might get a better response.Have you tried forums which are for tuning, and/or specific to your car?

I can help you with the ins and outs of exhaust systems, but I can't tell you about those particular systems.

            Re: Exhaust Poll

Brands like Flowmaster and Magnaflow have good reputations and good followings - of course, differences in tonal quality and volume are personal choices and not everyone agrees on what sounds best.

Having said that, plenty of guys with plenty of cars have taken the less expensive route, like this BlastinBob setup or even just a full custom job at a quality local muffler shop, and gotten excellent results. Often times the results are so good, for so much less money, that when they hook up with a group of guys who dropped serious coin on an exhaust, someone ends up feeling a little silly. And it's rarely the guy with the extra cash in his pocket!!

                Re: Exhaust Poll

I wouldnt buy a catback. Expensive. What I have done in the past and last week on my new car was to just get the muffler welded in place of the stocks. On my Tundra 4.7 I had a custom catback with a Flowmaster Super 40 and 3 inch tubing done for $230. On my Eclipse, same muffler and resonator delete cost me $160 using stock tip.

I say get a Flowmaster Super 44 and call it a day....but also depends on how loud you want it. Removing ur resonator will give it more sound too.
