  • Quick question and would politely ask for a quick reply.

I am in the middle of detailing my car as I type this and I have a piece of chrome on the rear hatch that has got a few swirls in it. It isn't metal but plastic and I am unsure of what to use. I have got plastx and chrome polish and also other polishes for the paint... what do I use? Thank you.

Try the PlastX or a very mild paint cleaner (SwirlX, #80).

Id go with the chrome polish first.

PlastX, or SwirlX/#105, is definately a good start.

The OP's"chrome" is really plastic, not metal. Wouldn't chrome polish be too strong for this application?

I would tend to agree with that. It can rub off very easily. It would have to be done very gently.

I'd say leave it alone. I don't think it can be corrected. Please let me know if I wrong.

I agree with Joe. Generally speaking, plastic/chrome suffers from indentations or dents, as well as scrapes, but it really can't be corrected. If you go chasing after them you may end up worse off than when you started.

I think that is the case.I don't think you can do anything with it.It's so thin and soft,it'll either scratch more or rub off.
