Sorry, I missed out on this one. I've been busy and my computer died, so I was having to do everything from a phone, and made it hard to look at everything here. I'm back though and you'll win that contest soon.
Actually, I've won it twice. On my own research, though. The deal is if I am stuck, and one of clues me in, and then I win - I'll split the cash. Hope that happens. Thanks.
Yep, it's a '65 Mercury Montclair, but it's a Marauder. The standard Montclair had a reverse-angle rear window, called a "Breezeway" window that could be power operated. The Marauder was the more fastback style.
Here's an excerpt from an article in Hemmings:
"The basic pillared Monterey $2,711 two- and $2,782 four-door sedans shared a new formal roofline, and the $2,845 Monterey four-doors wore Mercury's exclusive and unusual reverse-angle "Breezeway" rear window, which powered down behind the rear seat for cabin ventilation; Breezeway sedans were also available in Montclair ($3,074) and Park Lane ($3,301) trim. All trim levels also offered pillarless four-door sedans ($2,918, $3,145 and $3,372) and fastback sport coupes ($2,843, $3,072 and $3,299); these hardtop sedans and coupes, which shared their rooflines and window glass with Ford Galaxies, were called Marauders. And the convertible, whose glass rear window-equipped top was styled to resemble the coupe's roof, was available in $3,165 Monterey and $3,526 Park Lane trims. Growing families could opt for one of two full-sized Mercury station wagons, the trim Commuter or the upscale Colony Park"
Here we go again. I won last month without help. Won it 3 times, a record. I am stumped this month. SI will split the 4125 CASH WITH those who provide hints. I think it is a 1950 something, make unknown. Note front fenders bulged out ahead of the door, rubber rear fender leading edge protector, tear drop rear back, grill on side of hood ahead of door, and detail on rear fender skirt. Crappy photo from newspaper.
It's '48 at the newest. Every auto mfr. had new styles for '49. The lousy pic makes it tough, but it's a luxury car, not a mid-priced brand. Every Chrysler product I remember from the 40's had suicide doors, so I don't think it's a Mopar.
