  • Wipe On Wipe Off

Has anyone used the WOWO method with any of the Meguiars waxes (especially M16) with good results? I love M16 but it is so hard to remove once it dries. I put it on as thin as possible and it still sticks like glue once it hardens.

The only product I use WOWO with is UQD.

With M16, if it becomes very difficult to remove, you waited too long. You don't want to use WOWO, but find something between what you are doing and that.

That is what is so good about the stuff. Put it on really thin as you say, one panel at a time, do the swipe test, and if ready, I find it comes off easily, with no residue whatsoever. Then on to the the next panel. If you wax the whole car, and then try to take it off, you may as well use paint remover. LOL.

I just waxed my car yesterday with M16 using the WOWO method.

Tim Lingor uses this same method by applying a very thin coat and removing it one panel at a time.

It worked great for me. I split the big panels in half (hood, roof) to make it even easier on myself.

With how fast it drys, just wait the few minutes.

            Re: Wipe On Wipe Off

With all of our waxes and sealants we always recommend letting them dry completely before removal, so a true WOWO method would not be recommended.

But M16 does dry very quickly and quite hard, as you well know. Generally, with "modern" LSPs we would cover all the painted surfaces of the vehicle and then allow another 15~30 minutes (ambient conditions dependent) before removing. M16 presents the perfect example of why you should apply a wax very thin - but doing just a panel or two at a time does seem to make the process easier with this classic product. It is surprising how just a little spin of the applicator against the product gives you enough to cover a whole panel - a little goes a very long way.

Ol' Red, I've never had a problem with M16. I put it on extremely thin and do the whole truck. I go back and wipe it off. I have a full size long bed truck and have never had a problem wiping it off. If you put it on too heavy, it is an absolute bear to remove. The key is so thin you feel like you're wasting your time.
