UQD and 3M paint protection film.

I have the paint protection film on my vehicle and 3M says not to use any waxes with dyes or abrasives on it so I usually use 3M performance finish wax on just the film. However, in between waxings is it okay to use UQD? I contacted 3M and they had no idea. I love the film and want it to last without yellowing or hazing so any input would be greatly appreciated.

I think what 3M meant is to avoid using the Turtle Wax wax that contains dye. You could apply pure waxes such as M26, or even Gold Class (which contains a very small trace of abrasive cleaner and polish) on it without any problem. People apply all sorts of waxes on the 3M clear film without [much] issues. I believe Performance Finish has a small amount of abrasive cleaner in it as well. I used it quite some time ago and was able to literally remove some scratches with it.

My "old" car, 96-Camaro-SS had lots of never-ending touchups on the front lower bumper due to aero-skirt and 200,000 KM of rock chips. I Had it repainted and added 3M Protector to that area. Then went another 120,000 KM where I #26 waxed it same as the rest of the car. Worked like a charm and looked great. I would recommend to anyone the 3M protector for trouble areas, regularly waxed along with the rest of the car (but no stong cleaners or abrasives).

Great! This helps a lot. I was worried that the yellow tinge of some of the wax would cause it to discolor. This is all great to know. Guess I can use my UQD now!

Absolutely no issues using UQD on a clear bra - go for it. Nothing even close to abrasive in it, no dyes, no wax.
