Re: Rubbing Compound & Polishing Compound

I picked up these two at Advanced Auto but haven't been able to use them yet due to the weather. From BRODA's write up it does look very promising and has got me psyched up to try them out.

Ohh yeah the scent on these two are very nice! Cherries and banannas!!

Re: Rubbing Compound & Polishing Compound

I have little strange question - I bought Rubbing Compound Paste and I noticed that there is a mistake on all pictures in internet. I mean amount of product in box. On picture is written 327,5g (10 oz.) but on this boxes, which I bought, there is 250 g (8.8oz.).

Can you explain me why ? Do you know something in this case ?

Even Item Code is G18010 which means that the box is 10 oz.

The images used were pre-production artwork is all. Final sourcing of the tubs slightly altered the size of the product, so what you're seeing is correct. Apologies for any confusion.

Re: Rubbing Compound & Polishing Compound

I don't know if it's just me, but I'm finding these products very difficult to work with. I've tried working by hand with a small 12x12 area with a cool surface, but the product seems to have a short working time and dry out very quickly. Since it dries so quickly I have a hard time removing it and have to use UQD.

Should I be using a more generous amount of the product? Any help would be appreciated!

What do you mean by a short working time? How long are you working it for and what kind of applicator are you using?

Re: Rubbing Compound & Polishing Compound

I'm using a Megs foam applicator pad. I dab the edge of the pad into the compound and begin working an 12" area. I can spread it around the area, but as I go back to make passes, it begins to dry very quickly, definitely less than 30 seconds. Once its dried, its very hard to remove and have to wet the area with QD to remove the residue.

I've used UC and ScratchX and those seem to have over a minute of working time before the compounds dry.

I noticed it says to use the 100% terry cloth towel, but wouldnt THAT scratch the surface?!

I'm trying to learn as i read along to get rid of the horrid scratches/swirls on my car.

Meguiar's has been using that terminology for some time now.

If you can remove the product with a microfiber then go for it, but I have seen some cleaning product residues that came off better with a terry towel.

I just want a confirmation. Can I use Clear Coat Safe Polishing Compound as a cleaner wax on a good condition paint before applying NXT Gen Tech Wax 2.0?

This may have been asked in a new thread rather than jumping into one that's coming up on its one year anniversary, but we're here so.......

Yes, you can use the Polishing Compound as a paint cleaner (it's not a cleaner wax as there is no wax in it) to prep before applying your wax.

I'm sorry Mike. I thought using the search button to find the right topic is better than creating new thread. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Rubbing Compound & Polishing Compound

so if i use this rubbing compound, will i need less strengh than using UC for the same swirl to get the same result ?
because i love to work by hand, but using UC, it took me more than 1 hour to clean 1 door

or UC is still the best compound even if i using my hand ?
                              thanks for the answer...

i have been thinking couple of products i want to buy next for two week every days and night ^^
