I can't wait to use UP on the dry and weathered 31 year old trim on my Oldsmobile.
Yes, one of our Special Events guys had an early sample applied to his Xterra bumpers and the restorative properties and longevity were pretty amazing. One of our Product Managers applied some to his wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee side trim panels and it still looked very good two months and a few washes later.

How you apply UP is very important, however, and the area does need to be pretty clean before application as well. People tend to treat it like a typical protectant that is applied fairly generously, allowed to sit and soak in, and then wipe off. That process is not ideal with UP as it actually bonds to the surface much like wax does on paint. A very thin application, well worked against the surface, will return optimum results.

See How to apply Ultimate Protectant for a quick review of proper application technique.

I tried it again on my 06 Civic cowl. This time I cleaned it with IPA. I used an old (clean) sock to apply it.

I dont know how you guys use a foam pad without getting it on the paint or glass. It's too big. I also dont know how only a quarter size ammount was able to do that vehicle in the other thread. It took me about 4 quarters to get just my cowl done.

It's really really shiny in sunlight. Looks like I just rubbed grease onto it. Even when I wiped the excess. In the shade, it looks much better.

i still cant get mine to last through the rain and about the no finger prints, i know when you put ur hand on the surface there r no finger prints but when u apply a little pressure a finger print forms, is that how its supposed to be or did it not dry, cause its been 2 days already and it been nice out high 50s.

It sounds as though both of you are just using too much product. A little bit goes a long way, and if properly applied there won't be an excess to remove. You do need to work it in a bit, just like applying a cleaner wax, or even a paint cleaner, by hand. The difference being you should be able to just walk away from it when done.

I finally bought one. It's great on my window trims! Compare to GC Trim Detailer, it's less greasy.

Nick - It may have already been covered, but are you finding UP in stores locally? If so, what retailers? I hit Walmart, O'Reilly's, & Auto Zone today and couldn't find any.

This is great to hear, GC Trim Detailer looks so cheap at first from being so greasy, but after it dries it does look very nice.

I have found it at Advance Auto, Pepboys, and Walmart.

I have both, Gold Class Trim Detailer and Ultimate Protectant. For me, any exterior rubber trims, I use UP, and for exterior plastic trims, I like to use Trim Detailer.

Have anyone tried UP on their doors and dashboard? How did it turned-out?

I can't seems to find UP in all the WalMarts in my area. I am pretty sure that they will sell UP below $9.00 mark.

FWIW, I've tried UP and Trim Detailer and for my money Ultimate Quik Wax beats them all and lasts for weeks. I am blown away by the durability of the protection and sheen it adds to my textured vinyl exterior trim.

Thanks Nick! I'll try Advance since that's closest.
