I basically use QID for dusting and don't really need much cleaning ability at all.
Harmful? Not even close. If you use QID just for light dusting then you aren't taking advantage of the cleaning ability it currently contains, and that's fine. Used lightly it will only clean lightly, and with regular use that prevents the build up of dirt on a variety of surfaces. We can't think of anyone who would look upon that as being a bad thing. This new version is not going to strip your protectant nor will it be the recommended choice for really bad, set in stains. For those situations Nick has it right with this comment:

So, the cleaning abilities of this new Quik Interior is better. Great! What about it's protection on the surface? Is it also better? I know you guys just IMPROVED the protection on your last minor update of this product.

While UV protection is quite good, we still don't consider this to be a full dressing and you shouldn't really use it as a substitute for one. Think about this product much the way you would a quick detailer for your paint, except this is just for interior surfaces and it provides some cleaning ability.

I think i read this all correct. QID is used for light cleaning, etc. Are you saying it removes the protection you have on the surface? QID has some apc in it and prob diminishes all protection you have on your dash?

Rubbing anything over the surface is going to remove some of your dressing or interior protectant.

Not sure why everyone is assuming Quik Interior Detailer is some sort of strong APC now. The cleaning power has just been tweaked a little. There still is that awesome new/matte finish it leaves behind, as well as that lovely scent.

I am sure its going to be the same Quik Interior Detailer we already know and love.
