i just searched radio shack, and it seems they sell a bunch of them.

i've read up a few threads on "extension cord" issue with g110...there seems to be a lot of confusion with it, and if it could be put down in one simple statement, would it be..."the thicker the cord, the better" ?
Very informative thread here about proper cord size...

    In short...the bigger, the better.

We have had several G110v2 machines in use at Mannheim Auctions (they recondition literally millions of cars annually!!) and they've been running in excess of 400 hours each without a single failure. And when Mannheim runs a tool, it is in use literally all day long with almost no "off time". It's doubtful you would find any one, or any place, that stresses a tool more.
That must be a pretty rugged machine to be used there. FYI: Sounds like a lot of recons, but the Manheim Auto Auction group is the largest in the world. Here's a shot of one of their facilities in their namesake, Manheim, Pennsylvania. Anything not green is part of the auction:

        Re: Dual Action Polisher G110v2

Am I the only one that is sitting here with a less then year old, basically brand new G110 that is somewhat obsolete now and is a little bit irritated?

The **** part of the G110 is its slight lack of power for corrections. Sort of feel like I should've listened to that dude that was preaching the Flex for awhile.

Anyway, enough whining. Can MOL confirm that if you have a G110 (not V2) you're just SOL and will have to simply pay for a new tool if you want it?

        Take care

It's a new model, not a recall. Should Mercedes-Benz have replaced all of the 1999 S body cars because they came out with an all new design in 2000? Should Apple replace all Iphone 3G models with the new 3GS version? I think not. The list is endless, companies come out with new innovations for their products all the time. BTW, the G110 worked for what it was designed for quite well. I have gotten a ton of use out of mine and it was money well spent.

Ya ya I get it. Just asked a question, thanks for the analysis though. I won't know unless I ask and on occassion companies do offer upgrade options and so forth. So, thanks for your input that was very useful.

Just because it is "the way it is" does not mean I can't be bummed out and ask.

            Take care,

You need a G220 for Europe for the 220 volt power. I'm assuming they are or will make the V2 in a G220 model.

I live about 10 minutes from the auction and pass by it quite frequently and to see it in person is awe inspiring!!
Traffic on Lancaster Rd (Pa Rt72) as well as Auction and Junction Rd's is insane when the auctions are going on.

Mr Stoops, did you guy's send out the "old" G110 over there when it first debuted? If so how did it stand up? What products do they use there? All I know is that the recon shop is more like an assembly line, they work in groups dedicated to certain parts of the car.
My G110 v1 is still going strong after about 20 or so details done in about 6 months. I'm kinda torn on upgrading to the v2 since I haven't had too much trouble with getting the corrections I want with the v1.

I've been attending Manheim since the mid-70's. The original seven lane auction from that era is in the red square on the right hand side of the auction property.

Currently, on a week with a Thursday high-line and Friday regular sale, somewhere between 8,000 to 12,000 vehicles will go through the block in two days. Another FYI: The U.S. used car industry total annual sales is over 300 billion ($300,000,000,000) dollars.

Your owner's manual that came with the DA will list which gauge to use with which length. Generally, the gauge width increases with length (in this instance, increased width means going from a higher number gauge to a lower number. 16 gauge for shorter cords, 12 or even 10 for longer lengths).

I use a 12 gauge 50 foot cord with my polishers. Although 16 would have been safe according to the manual, I feel safer with the thicker gauge.

BTW, I just used my G110v2 last week along with my Porter Cable 7336, which I use for smaller pads so I don't have to switch between backing plates with one polisher. The most noticeable difference to me was the greater torque from my G110v2.

Now I know what others are saying when they say the G110v2 feels more powerful.

I am giving serious thought to purchasing a buffer/polisher. I have seen videos where when you are applying polish/wax you must buff until polish/wax breaks down. Is that true with Maguiar's products?

When using a Meguiar's paint cleaner such as Ultimate Compound, SwirlX or even something from our Mirror Glaze Professional Line such as M80 Speed Glaze or M205 Ultra Finishing Polish, etc you work in small areas at a time until the product is just a very thin film on the surface and then wipe off the residue before it dries. "Breaking down" really only refers to our diminishing abrasive products such as M80 or M83, etc and not our newer super micro abrasive technology products like M105, M205, Ultimate Compound, etc.

While either type of abrasive is essentially worked in a similar fashion, there really isn't any breaking down of the SMAT based products. In some cases with the diminishing abrasives you need to pay a bit more attention to your work area and how the product is breaking down, but for fairly routine swirl removal it generally isn't all that critical.

Waxes on the other hand don't break down at all as you apply them. All you are really doing with a wax application is spreading a very thin, uniform coating of the product on the paint. In the case of a cleaner wax you will apply in a bit more aggressive fashion to take advantage of the cleaning ability of such products, and there may be some break down of the fine abrasives, but not to the degree of our diminishing abrasive paint cleaners. Also, once you've applied a wax you want to let it dry completely before wipe off.

Really hope so, for the machine is much more expensive over here...
