mold of seats

So i've done a few boats now and still have problem with mold on the seats, so i saw someone used clothes bleach, so i took some. i was cleaning a customers boat and one of the seats was placed in storage compartment because it was so bad, basically black. so i thought nothing to lose, so i sprayed it with bleach, went to get a drink and when i came back it was like new again, all the mold gone. my only thought was is it safe, is there any after effects. anybody used it before????

I'd certainly consider some kind of protectant after to re-moisturize it some.
