  • Honda Accord- Soft Honda paint vs. M205

Managed to detail the Honda Accord again. The previous detail on the Honda can be found here:

Had another go at the very soft Honda paint. This time I was armed with the latest and greatest finishing polish from Meguiar's, M205.

    Before:

ONR Wash. 50/50 shot of before and after. Swirls visible after wash.

Pics after washing the entire car with ONR. Note the minimal amount of water on the floor after wash.

    Pictures of swirls.

Got the halogen out for some shots. Note the faint hollowgraming visible on the hood from before.

Swirls clearly visible on the LHS of the car.

After M205/W9006/Rotary. Swirls removed but still lacking some definition. Even with M205 this Honda paint is still too soft to be finished perfectly with a rotary.

Hollowgramming much reduced from before but still lacking in definition.

Followed the M205 with NXT Tech Wax 2.0 applied with W9006/ROB. Much better...

Before picture on the front of the hood.

After. Much improved with swirls removed.

    Some reflection pictures after.

Black paint reflects very nicely but it can be a challenge to maintain especially if its as soft as this Honda's paint.

Thanks for looking. Feedback and comments are always welcome.

    Looks Wet!

Interesting to heat that the paint is soft. All of the Honda's I have worked on have had harder paints. My Dad's Honda Civic has the same color is the Accord, love it.

The paint is extremely soft and extremely difficult to finish. Wiping the polish of with a MF towel can cause scratches. Maybe Honda has different types of paint used throughout the world.

I wasn't 100% happy with the correction achieved with the Accord but since it is a daily driver I suppose its good enough.

Thanks guys. Reflection shots were just for fun. Quite easy to achieve with black paint. The real test would be in full sunlight. Will see if I can get some shots before I return the car to the owner.

generally Honda's paint in our country production, is soft , as they are using RAW paint instead of premixes...

our weather here is like a oven ...equator line...everything melts here

therefore...it is a challenge to finish black here perfectly & free from holograming

Congrats to seech...he has indeed overcome the dark force...may u fight on

Managed to get some pictures in the sun the following day. It rained in the morning so there were some water spots which were visible from certain angles.

Yeah. I know what you mean. Ideally I should have finished with a ROB also. Maybe I need to get a g220.....

I wonder why Honda continues to use a paint that is that soft?

Looks awesome by the way. Kudos to you for taking it on!
