Is it my imagination or did the rep points for many of us skyrocket over the past week? I think mine jumped a 1,500 points for no reason I can figure out. Mine were inflated to begin with, but now they're ridiculous. Something wrong with the software?

To me a persons rep is formed by the content of their previous posts, not the number of green dots they have received. I don't have a problem with the rep point system, but I don't use them to base my opinion of a person off of.Brian

I completely agree. I don't base my view of how reputable someone is based on how many times they posted in The Answer and Ask Game
I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.
I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
Remove swirls my friends.

Re: Rep power gone wild?
Hmmm...what have we all been saying for months, turn it off, its useless and pointless.
If we can change the name or tone it down a bit, maybe it's worth it, but not the way its working right now.

Re: Rep power gone wild?
It does seem that a relatively small group of people have discovered the function and are using it quite a bit lately. We're not calling it an abuse of the system....... most of you aren't really taking it seriously anyway so what's to abuse, really? But since some of the numbers really are getting waaay up there, and very quickly, if enough feedback says to ditch it then we just may.
Continued responses to this thread are welcome, either way.Michael Stoops

Re: Rep power gone wild?
I just gave Mr. Stoops a REP and it added 4 to his score. That seems correct. (From 8,295 to 8,299) << Someone is well liked and working hard for MOL!
I also added a REP to Akimel and his score jumped up by 4. All seems OK. (From 2,156 to 2,160) << Great posts by this cat!
I only give out rep points to people that add good stuff to the MOL. I love looking at the Shine and Show postings and do add a rep point for the poster IF they go more indetail to how they did the detail. It's got to be informative to get the REP! Pretty sun shots of the car don't get it.
Does the REP Power system work? I think so.
Note to self: I need to add REP to the person that listed that cool step ladder that Lowes was selling over this last weekend!!! $22 for a $90 step ladder..... SCORE!!!
