  • Power washer and other questions

So my mom and dad bought me a really nice briggs and stratton power washer for christmas, was just wondering what foam guns people use. and what kind of soap or cleaner they use in them. I also am looking to buy a rotary to start practicing with would you guys recommend going with a nice makita or dewalt or going cheap and using that for practice. I was thinking why waste the money on a cheap one when the backing plate and pads would cost more than the rotary itself as in a harbor freight or similar. I think I should go good and strong learn the hard way on some old panels. All suggestions welcome

Re: Power washer and other questions

The snow thrower foam lance available from mainstream detailing store is really good. With it you could get rich foam with basically any small amount of soap. Retailers always advertise their soap being rich in suds and such, but with the pressure washer foam lance you could get amazing suds even with hand soap.

The makita rotary in realy nice. The reason why I bought it was because of its 600rpm slow rotation speed. However, I would get the FLEX 3403 rotary instead if I do not need the slow rotation speed. I rarely use the lowest speed on my Makita, and I think I would prefer a lighter unit. Not to mention the Flex 3403 looks much slicker than the makita.

Well, 2 bucket washing is most popular I think...

There is also a Karcher Foam gun, maybe there is an adapter for it, or you can check out Autogeek.net for several pressure washer options.

Brian, you seem to serious enough about detailing to not bother wasting time with cheap tools. Stick with a Makita or DeWalt and you won't go wrong - you'll also get plenty of positive comments about both of those tools whether you ask here or elsewhere. Porter Cable and Hitachi also make nice rotary buffers and the Hitachi is very quiet.
