My truck is going into the body shop on Monday Feb 8 for body/paint work and when i get it back id like to protect and rejuvenate the paint as nesc. until this nasty winter weather is done and i can do a full polish/wax on it.

Deep Crystal Polish, M07 Show Car Glaze and/or M80 Speed Glaze are going to be your best choices. M80 has some light cleaning ability and a very small amount of protection, but it's really the best you can do while that paint is curing. You want to stay away from any wax or sealant for the first 60-90 days because you don't want to seal the paint.

Keep in mind the body shop is going to rotary buff the finish, so using a very lightly abrasive product like M80 isn't going to hurt anything. In fact, you may find the body shop has left some holograms in the paint, which is very common, and the M80 will start to eliminate those, even if applied by hand.

that was my thought process as well, knowing their gonna buff the living snot out of my paint.

Whats pad/speed combo would you recc. i use on my G110 for the M80 followed possibly by M07?

also, those 3 products are the ONLY paint/body shop safe products correct??

Stick with the W8207 or W9207 with the M80 (M205 would be a great option here too) and definitely the W9207 with the M07. If you aren't seeing any swirls or holograms in the paint then stick with the M07, but if you do see these defects move up to the M80. You can run the G110 at speed 4 to 5 with M80 but go slower with M07. Remember, M07 has no cleaning or cutting ability so you want a very gentle application of it.

Virtually all of our Mirror Glaze products are suitable for fresh paint, with the exception of the waxes and sealants (M20, M21, M26, M06, M16, etc) but most of them will likely be more aggressive than what you will likely need. Things like M105, M86, M85, etc are likely to be too aggressive for your needs at this point, and many of these other products are going to be rotary only application.

From our consumer side you should be OK with Ultimate Compound, but again it's likely to be more aggressive than you really need right now. Any of our waxes in the consumer line (Deep Crystal Carnauba, Gold Class, NXT) should be avoided for the first 60-90 days.

ok, i didnt know how many of the products were "fresh paint" safe/ Id hate to spend my 4500 bucks on body work to ruin the paint by not letting it gas out!

SO beings i already have 205, would that be suitable to use in place of M80 speed glaze? Or was 80 recc. for the small amt of protection it provides.

Yeah, #80 is the only one with a small amount of protection.

ok, i was thinking i could maybe use 205 and follow it with 80 for the protection, only thing is, theyre basically the same in cut. So maybe polishing pad on 205 and finishing pad on 80??

You can do your test spots.... if it comes back in good shape, #80 alone is pretty good.

ok, should i do 80 with both a polishing and finishing pad, or just a finishing or just a polishing pad.

Also, im aware that protection with that is very little, but how long does the protection last? (remeber to consider snowy, salty/liquid calcium chrolide treatment, sandy roads as a daily occurance until april)

Re: Fresh Paint/Body Shop Safe Products.

Going to want a polishing pad for most instances.

As far as durability.... well, better than nothing. You may want to re-apply a few times. If it is just a small area, panel or two, you may ind it easier to just wipe it on by hand, if you arent trying for paint correction in the future.

At this point you really shouldn't do anything more than is absolutely necessary. If there's almost no swirling or holograms, then a light pass of M80 or M205, maybe even with a finishing pad (really depends on how hard/soft the paint is and how severe/light the defects are) is all you really ought to need at this stage.
