Was surfing around today and come across this great article thought I would share something I believe in.

    American Made

    Quote:
A physics teacher in high school, once told the students that while one grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn't slow a train very much, a billion of them would. With that thought in mind, read the following, obviously written by a good American ..

    Good idea .. . . one light bulb at a time . . . .

Check this out . I can verify this because I was in Lowe's the other day for
some reason and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose attachments . They were all made in China . The next day I was in Ace Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the hose attachments there. They were made in USA . Start looking ..

In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or
do affects someone else - even their job . So, after reading this email, I think this lady is on the right track . Let's get behind her!

My grandson likes Hershey's candy . I noticed, though, that it is marked
made in Mexico now. I do not buy it any more.

My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in
Mexico ... nowI have switched to Crest. You have to read the labels on everything ..

This past weekend I was at Kroger. I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets . I was
in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off-brandlabeled, "Everyday Value . " I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats -they were the same except for the price ..

The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the
thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get ready for this - the USA in a company in Cleveland, Ohio .

So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that
    are made right here ..

So on to another aisle - Bounce Dryer Sheets . ... . yep, you guessed it,
Bounce cost more money and is made in Canada .. The Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA ! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at almost half the price!

My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for
everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA - the job you save may be your own or your neighbors!

If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so
we can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from overseas companies!

    (We should have awakened a decade ago ... . .. . . . )

Let's get with the program . . . .. help our fellow Americans keep their jobs and create more jobs here in the U . S . A ..

It would be interesting if it was something more then spam (probably not your intention... but those who forward it usually don't understand that it is).

This spam message (and all the other thousands like it) were written just so people would pass them on... this is what spam is all about.

Plus, it's obviously does not give the big picture. I'll give an example... take _any_ one of the products mentioned... US vs non-US. Lets say the US product not only cost more but it's also inferior. You are now funding a company that is getting rich off of you and making a lesser product. If we did this with, lets say cars... where would we be? Oh, yeah.... breaking capitalism and funding US auto manufactures. Again, what kind of message does this send? Companies fail all of the time. US companies fail all of the time. It's how our economy survives. We reward the companies that make _good_ products for a _good_ price. This sends a _clear_ message to US companies... don't make ****, expect is to buy it and pay the highest price. The bar has been set.

      Yeah! that's my intention

Just thought I'd post this article because I do support americans, our economy is in pretty bad shape! and our jobless rate is pretty high

My bar is set at 100% -american I'll just keep buying USA to help our american workers feed their families.

      Thanks for your reply buddy.

        Good intentions.

However, it's ignorant to think that buying only American-made products would help create jobs in the USA, and prevent jobs from being shipped overseas.

The only way you could stop jobs being shipped overseas is to STOP oversea factories from charging such low rates for their labors, or to reduce the labor cost of domestic labor.

Finally, no one could stop corporations from shipping jobs overseas either. Corporations such as Walmart, Home Depot, GE, etc are publicly owned by shareholders and investors. Their very existence is to generate profits for shareholders. And to generate profits, these corporations must increase revenue and decrease expenses. If they are not doing everything in their power to maximize profits, then these companies are being irresponsible to their shareholders. That's the core function of any corporation. Corporations are not charities or a factories of jobs. They exist to generate profits for shareholders.

I am not for foreign made goods, or against American made products. I simply believe that the very fact of consumer rationality is the reason why jobs are being shipped overseas and American workers are losing their jobs.

Let's all just be sure to keep our thoughts in check here - these types of threads can quickly devolve into something that we don't want, or allow, here on MOL.

We'll be keeping an eye on this space, just in case.
