  • Meguiar's Professional 3" Hand Pad - ScratchX

The Meguiar's Professional 3" Hand Pad is advertised on ADS as being compatable with Megs 4" Softbuff pads.

Wondering if it might be good for newbs to use with things like ScratchX as I find I gradually go to the fingertips as I get tired.

Thats a new one... looks interesting.

Not sure if I would be able to apply as much 'passion' with that or not?

      Thanks Murr,
I think you are right. No substitute for passion. Darn, thought I was going to get a new toy.

I actually think this is better than doing it with a small foam pad because with that you risk putting "tiger stripes" with your finger tips. With the new SMAT products that seems to happen more.

This will guarantee even pressure and eliminate fingertip pressure stripes.

Never know... If one of the Mike's is using it, it must do something good...

Maybe I could use the pad to start off as "least aggressive" and save the fingers for the passion part. [I might just take a bullet for the team and report back.]

Thanks for the good advice from both of you.

The picture in Jeff's original post is from the Super Bee truck buff out we did just prior to SEMA. And yes, these hand pads are great for applying all manner of product to any surface.

Used with ScratchX and a 4" cutting or polishing pad they make headlight cleanup a snap, and they're also great for applying paint cleaners and waxes. They come in both 3" and 6" diameters so you can use our new 4" pads or our standard pads with them.

At our last TNOG of the season, right after SEMA, we had guys standing in line to try applying wax with a W9207 pad on the 6" Hand Pad. Works like a charm. These are very ergonomic so they feel great in your hand, and they make it very easy to apply uniform pressure across the face of the pad.

Our new sanding and finishing abrasive papers also work beautifully with these hand pads.

Thanks for mentioning the type pads to use.

Not having worked with anything more aggressive than ScatchX and terry cloth, would sticking with 3" polishing pads (for both cleaners and waxes) be advised?

I have never worked with a cutting pad.

Use a polishing pad with ScratchX or other paint cleaners, but switch to a finishing pad for wax or pure polish application.

ADS got the Megs 3" Hand Pad back in stock.
Got that (before they sell out again) and the Megs 4" polishing pads 2 pak.
