Eww,
Sorry Newport Viper, that stinks.
Did you wash them in a washing machine or by hand?
I have never had that problem and I have done both in the past.
I was thinking what might be worth a try would be putting some wood squares on each side of a vice, putting some glue on the back of the pad, placing the backing back on, putting it in the vice and compressing it just a bit. Just a thought.
Sorry to off topic it a bit, but did you use the 9006 pads with 83. If so how did they work with a paint cleaner vs. 8006?

My swirls were very slight. ( Didn't need to be aggressive.)
I used finishing pads for ( #83, #9 , NXT) everything. Came out great.
I've washed mine several times in the washing machine. Always just the pads, and always on gentle. The velcro has come slightly loose on edges, but then my pads are several years old. I've never had the backing separate.
Normally I just wash them in the sink, though. The washing machine is just for when they get really messed up. How old are your pads?

I have glued mine back on around the edges only, like in the post above... never the entire backing pad. It stayed for about 4-5 details and needed to be reglued. The nice thing about the Tacky glue is that it does not soak into the pad. For the most part it just sits on top.
I think sprayway makes some foam pad adhesive, maybe worth checking out.
FWIW, I use murphy's oil soap (per Don's recommendation) in the sink with warm water, never hot. I let them soak for about 15 minutes, then kneed them a few times, and rinse. I then air dry them. Since going to this routine I not had even one pad failure.

I do just about the same thing only with dawn soap. Only had one small failure on the first pad I bought from meguiars a coulpe years ago and that was the one I fixed.
