  • Hot Shine Tire Coating vs Hot Shine Tire Foam

What is the difference between the Hot Shine tire coating and tire foam? Are they both all-in-ones or made for different purposes?

I'm looking for a quick, clean, and easy way to make tires shine after regular washing.

Both are good all-in-ones but the foam version is much easier to use in even slightly windy conditions. The aerosol version has an adjustable spray nozzle which comes in handy if you've got multiple vehicles and one has much lower profile tires than another. But since aerosols are dispensed in a pretty fine mist it doesn't take much of a breeze to scatter it, potentially requiring you wipe down the vehicle afterward. This is a non issue if you apply it in your garage, but not everyone thinks about that the first time they use it!

With either product, however, it is important to let them dwell for several minutes and then come back with a old terry cloth towel to wipe down the sidewalls, removing any excess product. This will prevent the product from slinging due to over application.

Thank you very much for the excellent explanation Michael! I think I'll try the foam version first.

I've not tried the aerosol, but do use the foam. I like it because I don't have to scrub with it. I do find that I have to wipe my rims down afterwards as the foam will run down them as it dissolves.

I have also found the foam useful for cleaning wheel wells. Spray it on, let it dwell and then wipe it away with an terry towel and the wells will come fairly clean.

As a general rule of thumb. Whatever I use for the tires. I always come back later to remove any excess, to prevent sling.

Have not used Hot Shine Tire Coating, however, I have half-a-dozen of Hot Shine Tire Foam. It works great, when I am feeling lazy on cleaning my tires. Just spray it on and walk away. I do return back with a rug or a shop towel to wipe-off excess, to reduce slings.

Thanks for the tips on removing excess to avoid sling. I'll make sure I go over each tire and either wipe or blot excess product off.

I can't wait for spring so I can start detailing! You guys in the west are VERY luck to have relatively good weather all year round.
