  • Very frustrated

Just wanted to rant a little bit. I have been having stomach problems for the last 2 months or so. So i finally took my wifes advice and went and saw the doctor on Monday. He ran some tests and after finding my white blood cell count double what it was suppose to be had me admitted immediatley to the hospital. I spent the next 4 days laying in a hospital bed being poked and prodded in every way imaginable. This is not my complaint. my complaint is they could not figure out what is wrong. At first they thought it was my appendix, than they thought i had crohns disease. They went through about 5 different things and still couldn't figure it out. The whole time I was there i saw an actual doctor for about 10 minutes. The hospital in general was so unorganized it wasn't even funny. When I would ask a question all I would get from them is "I don't know. " I got released on Thursday night about 8 hours later than I was suppose to because nobody saw the order to release me. They said there was no medication or anything I was suppose to take. Than that very same night I got a phone call from the hospital that I needed to come pick up 4 prescriptions because they forgot to give them to me. One of the specialist even told me I was too fat and needed to lose weight. I still have no clue what is wrong with my stomach. I am so very angry!!!!

    Re: Very frustrated

I hope you figure out your problem and feel better! Your problem with the way you were treated is, very sadly, quite common. There is a hospital, in particular, near me that is just like you described. Get well.
There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

My girlfriend had very bad stomach problems as well a few months back to a point where she would cry to me every night -- pain tolerance is different to everyone mind you. Anyways, she went through 2 endoscopies (tube down throat) and 1 colonoscopy (tube up anus) to find that she had nothing. The only thing the doctors said was that she may have a sensitive stomach and high acid reflux. She's on a daily prescription of Prilosec and must eat every 2-4 hours. She's been good ever since! I'm not sure if that's what you have, but something to look into, or get a second opinion. She figured out that her stomach pains come back when she's REALLY stressed out. You may want to think about that, too, if your pains come and go when you're stressed. I'm not a doctor or anything, just thought I'd chime in.

      Good luck!

Sorry to hear about your stomach problems.
It is terrible the way you were treated at the hospital. Maybe if the symptoms persist, find a new Dr, that works out of a different hospital.

Good luck to you. Hope you get a proper diagnosis soon.

Getting diagnosed with a "mysterious" problem, they have to find the cause.

If they have three expensive tests and only use two and you get sick...........hugged your attorney lately?

I wish you luck and hope you get a second opinion. Most docs are like good detailers...they let their passion create their success. Hospitals have to rely on MBA's and attorneys to cut their losses.

Years ago, leukemia turned out to be a bleeding ulcer. Caused by stress. 4 days in the hospital. Rx: don't drink milk fast. 25 years ago, had to quit law from a similar problem. Massaging paint sure beats massaging wallets. Requires the same focus, still have a lot of that.

You could sue the hospital if the problem gets worse. Or, just look at it in a positive way - better to have them find no problems than to find problems that'll cost you a leg (or a stomach) to pay for.
