  • How to remove hard dirty spots of my wheel?

Today I was cleaning my wheels and I did find a few brown spots on one of them, a sort of dirty that refuses to get out even when using Hot Rims Wheel Cleaner.

What to do? Is there a problem to use a paint cleaner or a scratch remover on my silver wheel?

Are they painted wheels, like silver paint?

If so, old clay, and a paint cleaner is certainly ok.

Hi Bluher, hope the brown spots have been removed.

The rim look like Honda Civic rim?

You can actually treat those wheels just like you treat the paint on the rest of the car - wash, clay, paint cleaner, polish, wax (although the polish step is probably not going to gain you much of anything - boy, if ever there was a place where polish is really optional, this is it!!)

What about NXT All Metal Polisher? What is the difference btw it and a normal polisher like M83? You know Michael, I hate my Civic LXS' s original rims, they look too simple to the super shiny paint of my car. I don' t want to spend money on new rims because I plan on getting a 9th Generation Civic Si or a Camaro RS (in about a year when I get more of that green stuff).

The Nxt Metal Polish is good stuff, and is safe for paint, but mainly safe for paint if someone screw up.

I think you will do better with proper paint products.

So if the rims are painted and can be treated just like any other painted surface, is it safe to use wheel brightner to remove the brake dust?

I did some research and found out that Meg/s Wheel Brightener is an acid cleaner, safe on chrome and coated rims. But it tarnish Aluminum rims if not rinsed quickly.

I would use paint products on this rim. Clay and wax would be were I would start.

Wheel Brightener, properly diluted and used on just one wheel at a time, is safe on a painted wheel like this. If you have any bare aluminum on the wheel anywhere, stay away from Wheel Brightener or even Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner.

Otherwise, when dealing with a factory painted wheel such as this, stick to paint specific products for cleaning and waxing. NXT All Metal Polysh, Hot Rims Mag & Aluminum Polish and our leading competitors mag & aluminum or metal polishes are designed for just that - metal polishing. Here you're working on paint, not bare metal.
