Meguiar's Quik Tips Video Series - Consumer Headlight Restoration Kit.

After viewing the video clip you can scroll down for a step by step refresher, complete with still images shot during the filming of the video.

Please keep in mind that this video, and the others in the series, are not designed to be definitive how to guides but rather, as the name implies, Quik Tips that address the most common questions and mistakes associated with each topic.

Cloudy, oxidized, and scratched headlights not only reduce your visibility, they also effect the appearance of your car. Replacing neglected headlights can be very expensive, but with our One-Step Headlight Restoration Kit, you can easily restore clarity to cloudy, oxidized, yellowed and even lightly scratched headlights using your own drill. We recommended use of a quality, corded drill rather than a cordless unit as these often lack the power and torque needed to remove many years of oxidation and scratches.

Begin by cleaning your headlights to remove any dust or grime, then simply attach the Meguiar's proprietary buffing pad and apply a nickel sized amount of Meguiar's PlastX polish onto either the pad or the headlight itself. Both the buffing pad and PlastX are included in the kit.

Place the pad flat against the headlight and turn on the drill. Use slow overlapping motions and keep the pad firmly against the headlight while buffing. Apply PlastX polish as needed and continue working until the headlight becomes clear.

For the final application, use the included microfiber towel to apply and remove PlastX polish by hand to reveal a like new headlight that’s brighter, safer and better looking.

That is a great video NativeSun803. You did a great job explaining everything, and the editing was great as well.

      Well done!

        NativeSun, welcome to MOL!!

That, sir, is one heck of a first post!! Loved how you likened the process to a trip to the dentist.... but we think you'll agree this is actually a lot less painful!!

That was a great video and great demonstration of the product. Usually watching a 6 minute amateur video is painful. I was thoroughly entertained.

I like how you faded the music big time and brought it back in when appropriate.

          Them some sexy headlights.

Mike, would you recommend taping off the area surrounding the headlight? Not so much for the PlastX, but for the buffing attachment?

1 buffing pad is enough for 2 headlights?

More than enough - plus you can clean it after use and put it away for future corrections.

I am going to try this on my 95 m3, but are you supposed to put some UV liquid finish on after you are dome polishing to make it last?

I have used Ultimate Compound on my headlights with a rotary and polishing pad. Still hazy...would plastiX improve the result? Perhaps I might need to work the UC longer??

After compounding you shouldn't have any major haze but a little is expected.
                            I usually paint after compounding.
PlastX will help get rid of the haze.
