  • M67 vrs M105

I am using M67 with a 7207 cut pad W/ my G110 on black gelcoat sides. If I wanted some more cut ,can I use M105 or is that equal to the M67 in cut? or the M91?

M105 is not going to be more aggressive than M67 or M91.

M105 and M91 are similar in cut, but both are more aggressive then M67. We have seen some cases where, on very heavily oxidized gel coats, M91 dries up a bit quickly due to the porosity of the gel coat. If that's the case then an application of M45 prior to using M91 can sometimes help the situation.

Thanks for the quick responce. I had some scratches in the gelcoat that the M67 wasnt getting out ,The M105 took them out using a cutting pad.
I didnt have any M91 or I would have tried that.

Any reason you should not use 105 on a Gel Coat? What about Velocity? Why would I want to use 91 over 105 for a boat?

You can use M105 on a gel coat surface, and many have with good results. The chief reason to use M91 over M105 on that surface, however, is that M91 was specifically designed with gel coat in mind while M105 was specifically designed for use on automotive paint.

Gel coat is much harder than automotive paint and, on average, 20-25mils thick vs only 2mils for typical clear coat, plus it tends to be a much more porous surface - that should give you an idea of the differences in the surfaces each product was designed for.
