  • Foam Cannon: Ultimate Wash/Wax Review

Smallish review on UWW through a foam cannon. I was very curious on how much it would foam at a standard 1in fill since someone supposedly got crazy foam from it. Oddly enough, I didn't get anything like that, even with 50% UWW and 50% water. I guess I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...

*NOTE* I'm using a Karcher 1750psi and 1.5gpm with the original UK foam cannon at the maximum setting which uses all the mixture in the bottle. Results may vary

    1in of UWW used...

    Topped off with warm water

Foam was nothing like shaving cream haha

TEMP VIDEO (Uploading to Youtube since its better)

So...I decided to up the amount of UWW mixed...
50%ish UWW added to the container

Topped with warm water like before

Results. Much better than before but definitely NOT cost effective

    TEMP VIDEO

    Afterthought:
While my set up might not have produced as much foam as say, using a different pressure washer, it did tell me a lot about the product and its dilution ratios...

For instance, the foam from the first test, which wasn't thick at all, proved to be very good at breaking up and liquefying the dirt, bugs, etc on the surface of my RX330. With a quick rinse after letting it dwell for 5-10min, nearly all of the stuff was gone! Clearly, the cleaning capability of UWW in a foam cannon does NOT require shaving cream spewing qualities. It works just fine. If I had to compare it to another soap, I'd say its probably the most cleaning one I've used so far. Don't know why it is the case but clearly the Chemists at Meguiars have done their homework

Now for the crazy ratio of 50% UWW. This was done out of curiosity to see if I could get the shaving cream standard that someone posted. In my case, it didn't work obviously. While it DID create more foam, it was a complete waste of product. The 1in used in the first test was more than enough to clean the product. The only improvement I saw, was that the "waxing" abilities of UWW made the paint bead like mad when rinsed! Definitely something to take note of but still, very expensive soap just to get that quality from a cannon...

So there is my review, and I hope that I helped a little bit on your car soap decisions in the future. For those crazy enough to do 100% UWW in the bottle, good luck! I hope you get the fabled shaving cream standard that I was unable to achieve

    Interesting review! Thanks
There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

I used the UWW in my foam gun today and it worked great. I put several ounces and filled the rest of the bottle with water and shook it up. It actually lathered up as good as the DP extreme foam I used as well.

Re: Foam Cannon: Ultimate Wash/Wax Review

            Nice review, thanks for that!

A couple of things should be noted here, however: UW&W was never really designed for use in either a foam gun or foam cannon. Sure, it can be used that way (as can virtually any soap) but if one were to design a soap specifically for this application the formulation would definitely be different. The reference to "shaving cream" comes from a phone call we received from someone who claimed just that when using UW&W with a foam cannon. Exactly what hardware was used is unknown at this point as the caller promised photos but, as of right now, has not delivered same.

Still, the unique cleaning ability you cite, and the noticeable improvement in water beading after washing with UW&W are definitely traits that were targeting with this product. Looks like our chemists nailed it.

You'll find that DP Xtreme Foam kills most soaps out there in a cannon. Its nice but fairly pricey but I still shoot it anyway

Thanks for clarifying Mike! I should have mentioned that in my review haha. Hopefully that caller will chime in in the near future because I'm rather curious what his set up was.

I'll keep you updated with any qualities I notice later on (potential streaking from the wax additions on the paint, etc). Though I gotta say, if you need a foam cannon tester, I'm right in Meguiars and your backyard

I think you might have to buy a different trigger set up in order to use it. I would probably send them an email telling them your model and enclose a picture of the knozzle to see if they have it. I bought mine direct from them in the past through Pay Pal if I remember correctly. Paypal will automatically convert to the currency the site is.

Of course, if you want to bypass all that, the Autogeek one is similar enough I guess

Nothing wrong with buying another trigger set up. You can get a short trigger with disconnect to make it easier to maneuver around your car. I usually find that my Karcher set up is much too long to move around safely. Its useful for stock height cars but stupid for lowered cars. I haven't touched the wheel arches of my Camry for months as a result

buy something that attaches to your hose since it is detachable. Just make sure it has a fitting that complies with the foam cannon

for ex, here is a site that sells the gun
