Spent just an hour on the exhaust tips using 0000 steel wool pads, all purpose, bug/tar remover, and still have a ways to go. Figure I've got to up the pad strength, but not sure how much. And prob need something stronger in the actual cleaner dept. Any suggestions?

The rust doesnt look real deep.... probably could try the #0000 with a proper metal polish, like Hot Rims Mag and Aluminum.

Move up to #00 steel wool. #0000 steel wool will usually be fine for carbon/dirt/tar build-up but it will have a hard time removing any rust or pitting.

reading this post made me go out and try Mag and Alum polish on my exhaust tip.
