    Removal of tree sap

Parked car under oak or elm tree
    Sap dropped
What do I use to remove the sap without
damaging exterior paint and tinted windows?

Washing, clay, or a paint cleaner would be mildest.

Can always try a Bug and Tar product, or glass cleaner if needed. Or if planning to detail anyway, can go straight to the glass cleaner.

Obviously the sooner you work at removing tree sap the better off you'll be - and the easier it will be, too.

Glass cleaner can actually work very, very well for this but you will definitely have to rewax after using it.

I have seen people use rubbing alcohol. I have used it myself sap at was plastered on my Urethane Bumper. A good Layer of Wax certainly helps.

I have some sap on a window and glass cleaner only took so much off. Anything else I can use?

You could try spraying some car wash solution on it next time you wash your car. Let it sit for about a minute or two to soften the sap and then proceed to wash the car as usual. I did this and it successfully removed the sap.

You could also, after letting it sit for a minute, scrub it lightly with either a bug spongeor a wash mitt (one separate from the one you wash the rest of your car with; I woudn't want to rub tree sap that is in my mitt all over the finish).

Iso alcohol or mineral spirits. Let the liquid "work" for you. Sometimes you may have to use a mild polishing/rubbing compound to knock the top off the sap so that the liquids can do their job.

Pick up a can of Stoner's Tarminator.
