  • Summer + relatively fresh paint = Pollen attached to paint

    Hi all,

I had my car repainted 5 months ago and now that the summer came also pollen has arrived.

Bad surprise while washing my car is that i found out i have many dots attached to the paint that won´t go away. After thinking a while about it it must be Pollen that got attached to the paint somehow.

Funny thing is that the pollen just glued itself to the part of the car that have been repainted, but not the rest of the car.

Anyway, is there some easy way to remove this "dirt" from the paint without having to clay it? (I tried with pressure washer, paint cleaner, degreaser and many other but they didnt help)

Claying should be the most gentle method to try....

Claying would definitely be the first choice, and actually an easier and less invasive process than almost anything you've already tried. Still, it's a bit odd that a paint cleaner wouldn't have removed this, unless it is seriously bonded to the paint. Nevertheless, this is exactly what clay is designed for.

        Definitely give it a claying.

I know the best thing to do is to clay it but the store unfortunately is far away and i'm too lazy to drive myself out there...

What about cleaning it with Gasoline? (is it really dangerous for the paint?) I know its not the best thing to do to the paint but it should work

Besides being bad for your paint...it's extremely dangerous! One spark.....POOF!!!! You are a ball of flames.... Make the drive, it's not worth a visit to the burn unit.

              Yeah, no gas.

              Maybe glass cleaner....

Ok, i was tempted to use gas because it's cheap but i skipped it.
I found some kind of "super-degreaser" that smells like gas and looks like gas but it´s not flammable; after using it a few times it succeded to remove all the annoying dots.

Of course after that i immediately waxed everything to avoid these situations again!
