Yes, that is correct. Remember though - only the wax should be allowed to dry on the surface before wiping off.

can i skip the polish and go straight to waxing after applying the UC?

In many cases, yes, you can go straight from UC to wax. Only if you feel the desire for additional gloss, or if you find any level of haze from the UC (usually only with very delicate paint) would there be any real need to use the polish step.

I didn't make this post to be negative in any way. Right now I just quit using products from a company where I spent over $5,000 on everything they had for sale. But the reason I stopped with their products were due to their video's. As in this video, it shows buffing the car. However if you look at the entire hood, from where I'm sitting, it looks like a totally perfect detail job. Then at the bottom you show your "half and half" section. I didn't see any "tape" laid across the hood of the car during the buffing process so how can that be. To show I am not trying to be negative, I am attempting to find the BEST Mequiar's products to use on my wife's black mercedes and my new silver Ram Diesel truck. Narrowed all of my searching right to your products.
