  • Polishing foam pads- when to replace

    Hi MOL,

I'm just wondering though if anyone can give me their expert advice regarding polishing pads. I'm mulling over if I need to replace what I am using now- 'cause lately, I notice that it leaves a wax residue on the surface. I feel like, the pads aren't as effective as it used to be.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Long live MOL!

How are you cleaning them? Even a worn out pad shouldn't be leaving any residue behind after use.

The small foam hand applicator pads that are packaged with products like NXT Tech Wax 2.0, Gold Class Carnauba Plus Wax, etc can be machine washed and dried and reused many times over. When they start to get dirty most people will resign them to interior or tire dressing duty before tossing them for good.

We assumed that ripple_effect is talking about foam pads for use on a buffer. Is that correct or did we assume wrong?

ripple effect: I did a search and couuldn't find it, sorry. was in a hurry, and must of missed it.
Michael: Yes, the pads I was talking about were the ones that came in the boxes I bought.
Ok, thanks. Good thing too, as they were tossed in the washer with my towels. I missed them as I sorted. They feel really nice now, too!

Yes Mike, it was the foam used in the buffer to polish the surface.
